Zupeng Zeng is a master’s student in the Michigan Program in Survey and Data Science (MPSDS) at the University of Michigan. He earned a B.S. in Data Science with a double major in Sociology from William & Mary, where he built his foundations in quantitative analysis and applied social research.
Zupeng is a Research Assistant at the Institute for Social Research on the Surveys of Consumers, where he validates monthly data, reconstructs questionnaire variables from ambiguous missing-data codes, and audits processing decisions to keep results comparable across modes. He previously worked at AidData as a Data Support Associate, compiling and validating large-scale development finance data, and spent summer 2026 as a Customer Research Intern at the Metropolitan Airports Commission, analyzing passenger experience survey data and designing field observation protocols.
Within MPSDS, Zupeng serves as a student representative on the M3 Series Committee. He is also Associate Chair of the Nominations and Awards Subcommittee of AAPOR’s Inclusion and Equity Committee. Bilingual in English and Mandarin, his research centers on measurement and nonresponse in the study of inequality, particularly how well surveys and administrative data capture the people most affected by it.
