Welcome to the Michigan Program in Survey and Data Science (MPSDS) at the University of Michigan.

MPSDS trains future generations of survey and data scientists at the intersection of social research and data science. Our program combines rigorous training in designing, data collecting, processing, and analyzing, with a unique focus on data quality—a critical yet often overlooked aspect of data science. Our curriculum covers a wide range of data sources, including survey data, social media posts, sensor data, and administrative records, as well as analytic methods for working with these new data sources.

We offer doctorate and master of science degrees through the University of Michigan.

The program’s home is the Institute for Social Research, the world’s largest academically-based social science research institute.
