My research interests mainly focus on figuring out how large-scale data in social media platforms can supplement or even replace survey data. Also, how contextual data can help us better understand the survey world.
Current Research/Work:
Currently, I work closely with Dr. Fred Conrad on the project named "New Approaches to Analyzing Social Media Content for Enhancing Census Bureau Data." It aims to evaluate the big question of whether the social media data can align with traditional survey data and in what circumstance we expect to see alignment between survey and social media metrics. My personal research is about generating point estimates, using NLP algorithms, from social media metrics, and combining social media data as contextual data to survey data analysis.
More information about me:
I am currently a PhD student here at MPSDS. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Nanjing University in China, including a one-semester exchange program at National Taiwan University. I worked as an undergraduate research fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (IAS) and as a teaching assistant at a summer school program at Nanjing University. I also graduated from the Michigan program in survey and data science with a master’s degree. Now I will continue pursuing my Ph.D. on the data science track.
