Ellen Hickman is a 2nd year MS student in the Michigan Program in Survey and Data Science, with an emphasis in the Social Sciences. She focuses on mode-effect estimation, questionnaire design, and applied sampling in global survey data for international development.
Ellen currently works at the International Research Hub as the Hub’s coordinator, where she supports communications, funding, and administrative operations of large-scale international survey collaborations within ISR and UM. As a graduate research assistant, her research identifies determinants of mode-switching within panel survey designs. Prior to joining MPSDS, Ellen managed the implementation of business-level surveys in Southeast Asia. She received two BA degrees in Psychology and Sociology (Concentration in Analysis and Research), as well as a certificate in Southeast Asian Studies, from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
On campus, Ellen is the peer-elected Graduate Student Representative, an active member of the Survey Methodology Lab, and volunteers with STATCOM (Statistics in the Community) as a Survey Consultant and the National Presence Chair. After graduation, she looks forward to furthering her career in global survey methods.
