Our work provides information and guidance to changemakers, and the right candidate for this position will be excited about that mission and about helping a small business grow and succeed. Although it is an entry-level role, this position will provide excellent opportunities for growth and development — as a key team member in a small firm, the Research Assistant will have the opportunity to experience many facets of the work.

Our desired candidate will be an excellent communicator; enthusiastic about learning new things; self-motivated and committed to high-quality work; comfortable with numbers and data; detail-oriented; creative and flexible; able to work independently and to a deadline. Experience using survey data, statistics, and/or data visualization are assets but not required.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in drafting analysis and reports of qualitative and quantitative research;
  • Assisting in design of survey questionnaires and qualitative instruments;
  • Administrative and logistical tasks such as scheduling focus groups, monitoring focus group recruitment, and scheduling client meetings; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of skills and education; excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to excellence; proven ability to manage multiple assignments with deadlines; the ability to think through tasks independently, with good judgment and strong problem-solving skills; capacity to work independently without close supervision and within a team structure; professional demeanor, strong work ethic, positive attitude, self‐motivated with a desire to learn, creative and flexible.

Desired qualifications

Experience with data visualization and communicating survey results or other data for a general audience; statistical background and experience with analytical software such as SPSS or R; ideas and work ethic to help the business grow.

Hours and Expectations

This position is fully remote, though we have a preference for candidates located in Southeast Michigan. Employees are provided a laptop and expected to have cell phone and internet access during working hours. This is a deadline-driven business, and this role may periodically require evening and weekend hours. Some travel may be required, both to the Ann Arbor office and beyond.

Application Procedure

Interested individuals should send a cover letter and resume electronically in either MS Word or PDF format to [email protected]. Applicants are encouraged to take extra time to detail their skills and experience in the cover letter. Resumes must show relevant experience. Incomplete submissions will not receive further review.

Salary and benefits

Full-time salary between $45,000-$55,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes a 401(k) with employer match; health insurance; and paid holidays/vacation. Our firm has a culture of investment in employee growth and will be open to various ways of supporting your continued learning.
