
Research Assistant Professor ISR
Henning Silber is a Research Assistant Professor in the Survey Methodology Program, located within the Survey Research Center at the Institute for Social Research on the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor campus. He earned his PhD from the University of Göttingen (Germany). After completing his PhD, he worked as a Postdoc and then a Team Leader in Survey Operations in the Department of Survey Methodology at GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Mannheim. He was a Fulbright Research Scholar at the Department of Public Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Since January 2023, Henning serves on the Conference Committee of the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR). In his spare time, he plays competitive chess. He lives in Ann Arbor with his wife and daughter.
Research Interests
Henning’s research interests include survey research methods (questionnaire design, measurement and nonresponse error, survey design, non-probability surveys, panel conditioning, social media sampling, professional respondents, virtual interviewers) combining surveys with other data types (consent to data linkage, participation error), meta research (reproducibility, generalizability, publication bias), and substantive research (trust in surveys and survey result reports, privacy attitudes and behavior, social networks, culture).
